Baltic Recruitment are delighted to be supporting a leading distributor of plastic piping, valves and fittings with their search for an experienced Business Development Manager to cover the southern region.
Overall Purpose:
- The Business Development Manager (BDM) is responsible for identifying and securing new business opportunities, building and maintaining strong client relationships, and driving growth and profitability.
- The BDM works closely with the sales, marketing, and product development teams to align strategies and deliver solutions that meet market needs.
- The Business Development Team is responsible for growing the business and extending the reach of our products & services in order to increase revenue within a particular geographic area, contributing to the wider company sales target.
- Deal with customer and prospect enquiries; demonstrating technical knowledge and expertise to be able to present the functionality of products in some detail.
Key Duties:
Manage Sales Activity within a geographic area:
- Achieve growth in line with company objectives.
Market Research and Analysis:
- Conduct market research to identify new business opportunities.
- Analyse market trends, customer needs, and competitive landscape.
Business Strategy and Planning:
- Develop and implement strategic business development plans.
- Set short and long-term business goals in alignment with company objectives.
Lead Generation and Prospecting:
- Identify and pursue new business leads and prospects.
- Develop a pipeline of potential clients through various channels (e.g., networking, referrals, cold calling).
- Develop a ‘project funnel’, working with consultants to identify specification opportunities to continuously grow the business and generate sales.
Client Relationship Management:
- Build and maintain strong, long-lasting client relationships.
- Understand client needs and propose solutions that meet their requirements.
Sales and Negotiation:
- Present business proposals to potential clients.
- Negotiate terms and close deals to achieve sales targets.
Collaboration and Coordination:
- Work closely with sales, marketing, and product development manager to ensure alignment.
- Coordinate with internal teams to deliver tailored solutions to clients.
Reporting and Performance Monitoring:
- Utilise IT systems for sales tracking and reporting
- Prepare regular reports on business development activities and results.
- Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs).
Key Requirements:
- Experience in technical selling ideally in a related field(plastic piping, valves, fittings etc) with the ability to sell ideas, products & services.
- Proven experience in a Sales/Business Development role with an ability to use consultative selling approach and develop long term relationships.
- Successful track record of achieving targets.
- Experience using CRM & IT Systems.
